The
Company was established in 1998 after I left the BBC to pursue a freelance
career as a lighting director. Today, I offer a fully comprehensive lighting
service whatever the scale or type of your event. By calling on a wealth of
experience and contacts from the lighting industry, I cater for anything from
the simplest studio show right through to the largest outside broadcast, concert,
event or award show. I am able to supply the full package of Console Operators,
Gaffers, Vision Engineers, Moving Light Technicians & crew.
My work ranges from studio shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and Parkinson through
to entertainment extravaganzas such as 'Party at the Palace' in the grounds
of Buckingham Palace as part of the celebrations for Her Majesty's Golden
Jubilee, for which I received an RTS Lighting Award nomination.
I have
also lit other major shows such as 'Live Earth' (Wembley),
'The Eurovision
Song Contest',
'The Brit Awards', 'The BAFTA Television &
Film Awards', 'Children in
Need'
(2003/4/5) and 'Comic
Relief' as well
as more specialist and topical
shows
such
four series of
'The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures'
and
illuminating the Pyramids
and
the Giza Plateau in Egypt
for
'Into the
Pyramids'.
My wide ranging experience in live television production, including the
original
design and five series of 'Strictly Come Dancing',
'Comic Relief
Does Fame Academy'
and countless
variations of Saturday evening live
entertainment as well as other
music,
quiz,
lottery
and children's
shows
in
addition
to many one
off specials,
some mentioned
above.
I conceived the original design of 'The
Weakest
Link',
'Strictly Come
Dancing' / 'Dancing With The Stars',
'How Do You Solve
A Problem Like Maria?',
'Any Dream Will Do',
'
Shooting Stars', 'The
National Lottery Jet Set',
'Hardspell', 'Pokerface', 'Britain's Got Talent'
Auditions Tour, 'People's Quiz',
'Dance X', and 'The Eurovision Dance Competition 2007'.
I am a lighting consultant for brand creators Lambie-Nairn, and for them have
designed news studios for MBC in Dubai, TV2 in Norway, NOS in the Netherlands
and News 24, BBC World, Breakfast News, Liquid News, National and Regional
News for the BBC.
I have served as chairman of the Society of Television Lighting Directors
(3 years), and on the Committee of the National Illumination Council (5 years).
I pride myself in striving for artistic & technical excellence, as well
as being totally committed to client satisfaction. This, I believe, is why
clients return to me for their productions — I have just confirmed my
seventeenth series of Parkinson (BBC/ITV) and am working on my eighth series of National
Lottery Jet Set.
